    Default Lesson learned

Today I opened a kit for a crib quilt and discovered a noticeable black greasy spot in the center. Now if I had just purchased it, it would go back to the store with the receipt, but I’ve had it for at least 2 years and I don’t even remember where I bought it, much less have a receipt. From now on, I will open any kits when I get home and make sure this doesn’t happen again.

not only for 'spots' but to make sure all of the parts are included.

I hope you are able to get that greasy spot out.

I opened a fat quarter bundle only to discover someone had refolded it after spilling what I think was coffee on it. I also had it for a while but how rude! I hope your greasy spot washes out because the coffee did not.

I'm so sorry this happened to you! Can you work around it or could you applique something over the spot?

That's a good lesson to learn. I splurged on a Derrick Lockwood kit several years ago. Life got in the way and I didn't open it right away. When I did I found that one of the fabrics was not included. Bummer. Looking for something to replace it.

I have only had one kit. It was all there and no spots. Hopefully you will get the spot out.

I think there are more and more stores that buy returns and seconds and "lots" and then repackage them and sell them for new. I bought a set of bathroom rugs with the cardboard "packaging" stapled to it, holding the two rugs together. When I opened them up at home, there were huge black grease stains on the rugs. Hidden by the carefully placed packaging. Back to the store for a refund!

Try using hydrogen peroxide with some Dawn dishsoap. I have used this and haven't found too many spots it will not remove. I keep a small bottle of about 1/2 c. with 1/2 t. dishsoap in my laundry room and just spray or squirt it on the stain i want to remove, use small brush and then wash. Sometimes it will come out and I don't have to wash it. This solution has removed blood from white sweater so it might be worth a try.

Try soaking the stain in a strong solution of OxiClean. I have had good results. You may have to leave it overnight or even do it a second time, but I think you will get results.
