Good idea! I would have slowly picked apart all the seams and been complaining to myself the entire time.

Great thinking...I do a lot of figuring things out at night, too.

If you haven't trimmed down your sewn squares yet, you might like to read my post (#57) on this other thread: Substitutes for batting??? Maybe what I described is how the squares were going to be used...

I have done this too. Busy people think alike, right?

Depending on how you like the squares together, you could just cut off three of the seams and end up with a rectangle of two squares.

Thanks for the suggestion. These look like they were going to be either coasters or Christmas gift bags (variety of sizes). I'd say wine gift bags but none are large enough.

Don't you love trying to figure out what someone else was thinking when they give you their unfinished stuff??

Or maybe little gift bags to hold the one shot mini bottles like they have at minibars or you get on an airplane?

Either way, like Bear said, "it is your fabric now, do what you want with it" (best advice )

I have a drawer full of old nylons with various degrees of runs. Sometimes I take one good leg from one pair and the other leg from another pair if the colors match. I'm not the only one that does that, I know. But now I know what to do with the bad leg that I had to cut off.

I had been using these bad legs as strings when gardening. They are super strong and last for years holding my buggy wheel to a metal fence post so I can tie my vines to the wheel - with more legs of course.

That sounds like an awesome way to make a heavy, thick quilt! I don't know what it looked like, but from your description I'd say it was a cross between a biscuit quilt and a ragg quilt.
