I also have HV and have been told if you are using a European made machine, because of the way it is made, you should only use European made threads because of the way they are twisted. I use Mettler, Sulky, Gutterman, RA, YLI, and etc. I use cotton or poly threads for the quilting. I have an "SE" and do embroidery quilting. Be sure to check out your needle for the correct one with the thread and technique you are using.

Good Luck

I sometimes use Coats and Clark, Connecting Threads Thread or machine quilting thread. Just depends, all my quilting turns out great if everything is working right.

I have a viking also, but no machine likes quilting thread (it's too thick and can mess up in the tension disks). I use C&C for free motion and all quilting on mine. I like the polyester for quilting because it will last longer than 100 cotton. Because I wash my quilts often I think it's important.
