What a difference! Great idea to add black strips -- gives the quilt a wow factor with the 3D effect. Can't suggest a quilting motif but I'm sure you'll jazz it up

I definitely LOVE the 3-D effect!!

Depending on how you feel about this top
1. Do you love it now? Then I would really up the "WOW" factor even more with some "modern" quilting (a la Judi Madsen)
2. Do you merely like it? Then "light" custom, with some kind of focus quilting in the middle of the blocks and meander elsewhere
3. Do you still hate it and/or are tired of looking at it? Panto, quick and easy

Or, if #3, you could "hide it" from yourself for a little while, then when you come back, it might turn into #1.
Of course, if it's #1 and you hide it, it might turn into #3.

Outstanding!! And the raw edge applique idea was pure genius!

What a difference! I remember your earlier post, and I'm glad you found a way to use the fabrics that you like.

What a difference a little black strip of fabric can make. Looks very bright now!

I remember your original dilemma too. What a wonderful result, how clever to come up with such a dramatic difference made from such a simple addition. It's just fabulous!

I like it too...great thinking! I think this block would be a great one for a quilt I wish to make my son. Thanks for posting the update.

How did you add the 2 strips to your already pieced blocks? If anyone knows of a pattern for what I call the floating blocks , please share the name or link. Thanks for your inspiration.

Love what you did with this! I would probably use some form of angular lines on this quilt.
