Beautiful! I would definitely hand quilted them or find someone that would. It would be a pity to machine quilt heirlooms like that. Just my opinion!

With older quilts and old threads you need to be care when stretching on a longarm frame. If you have a LAQ quilt them they might have you apply thin muslin behind the top so as to not pull the seams too much on the sewing table.

I'm in agreement with many here that the quilts would look lovely if hand quilted.

It looks like the maker's own interpretation of this feathered star pattern.

This is the closest pattern that I've found, but it looks like the maker re-oriented two of the blocks above the four small squares to make a "heart" shape and replaced the diamonds at the tips with HST's.

    yes thepolyparrot....

it does look some what like that block ...the person might have made up the block , I think it is pretty, they also put HST all around the edge...I just wish I knew who made it, very nice work,

I wish I could take a picture of the perfect 1/4 inch seams but they don't show up when I take a picture with my camera, it is not a very good one... LOL maybe my friend has a better one that would take close up pictures so everyone could see the stitching...Thanks

Did you get the attic cleaned out? Did you find anymore treasurers? Have you made a decision on the beautiful quilt tops?
