Owie! I am sorry to hear that happened, but I do want to thank you for reminding us that we need to be careful. I know at times I can get carried away and not pay attention to everything as I should. I hope you heal quickly!

Okay...I decided after reading all of these posts....I am not going to use my fingers, instead I will use my husbands that way if the cutter slips, it won't be my fingers that get cut. LOL. When I watch the Fons and Porter show on the TV, I notice they use some type of glove when they cut.

Every time I use mine I think about how quick it could slice into a finger. That is why I won't let grand kids near my sewing stuff. When i get tired of sewing I don't always put everything away and I would not want them to get at those cutters or even scissors.

    Hope your finger heals ((((HUGS)))

foot mishaps is one reason i use a cutter that closes when i let go of the handle.
also been there, cut my thumb and nail. bled for 5 hours. no stitches though. just time to heal.
you will be much more careful from now on, let me tell you.

Last fall I cut my left index finger off with my rotary cutter. I cut it from the first knuckle into my fingernail clear down to the tip of my finger. Once I got the bleeding stopped, I super glued the piece back on and put a bandaid on it. It didn't adhere, but it sort of protected my finger until it healed.
Believe it or not it grew back. I still hurt like the dickens.

I did this back in December - cut it right off before I could stop myself...took a while to heal...neosoporine(sp?) helped it alot.

Now when I cut - my fingers are far from the edge and tucked under....haven't gotten the gloves yet!
