Why make a fitted cover when you can use an attractive quilted throw for the same purpose. I did that when I was practicing blocks and put several together from scraps as a learning process that ended up being a great cover up. I just finished the edges but did not back it. I also purchase table cloths from time to time that are fabric backed vinyl that do a great job as well.

Here's a simple and quick pattern. Take a large piece of material, you can fold it if you like, drape decoratively over machine. No sewing required. I've been using one like this for a few years now.

I upgraded from a Brother 8500D to an Innovis 4000D. I took the cover I made for my Brother 8500D, opened up the top so it would slip over the bigger Innovis and used a plastic sewing machine cover to cover the thread rack. It says "front" because I could never quite figure out which side was which when I put it on!
