Used machine embroidery applique for the lettering on the Bama quilt (still a work in progress!) lol

Thank you. I enjoy creating and only have a small glimmer at the beginning of a project as to what it will look like when finished. lol

Patricia,

I was perusing your quilts and saw the Alabama one. I love what you did. I have the Official Alabama patches I got at Houston show 2 years ago and some of the other fabrics but have not done it yet. I need to find some houndstooth. Where did you get the hat pattern? Your embroidery is great. Job well done. ROLL TiDE

Gee, thanks a bunch. Hobby Lobby carries the houndstooth. Be sure and use their forty percent discount coupon (works for online orders also!!!).

The hat ... well, I googled "bear bryant fedora" and got a small pic and enlarged it, simplifying the lines into something I thought I could duplicate by applique. I can scan and email to you if you want a copy.

Check out rapidresizer.com for enlarging patterns. That's what I used for the large "A" in the center. Free for 14 days. Are you aware that the newer fabric has a different "A" than the one I used? Mine is the older version ... newer one has tip pointing upward.

these are gorgeous! I have an embroidery machine and just started playing with using more than one color - the thought of multiple colors just scared me - no more! So inspiring, thank you for showing...
