    Stitch in the ditch means to stitch in the seam of the pattern of your quilt top. Say you did a 9 patch, then you would sew in those seams so that you would not see your stitches. Same way when you sew stars you sew in the seams of you stitches of your quilt top. This way no one will see your stitches. I hope this helps. Karen from Freedom
