    Magnifying glass for sewing machine

    Hi Everone

I'm in the process of buying Christmas gifts and I saw a member here that had a magnifying glass that hooked to her sewing machine.

I would like to order one for my MIL (and one for me)

does anyone know where I can find them?

Thank you so much for your time & information,
    Kris

Try Keepsake Quilting, Connecting Threads, or Nancy's Notions. I've never looked for them, so don't know if JoAnns or a LQS would have them.

Look at places like Keepsake Quilting. http://www.keepsakequilting.com/productdetail/9877.htm

The one at walmart is pretty nice. It is Simplicity. It hooks on the machine and it lights up.

I bought the Simplicity from WalMart. It does not fit on
    my Brother NV1000 machine.

It looks like a nifty idea - haven't seen them here yet but with the way I sew I am sure I will manage to get it all tangled up with whatever I'm throwing at the machine.

I bought one - can't remember where but it would not work/fit on any of my machines. If someone could tell us about an adjustable one that works I would kiss them! My eyesight is not good to start with and sewing on the machine doesn't help! (At least that is the excuse I use for not always keeping to a 1/4" seam!)

i used one years ago. maybe got it from Nancy's Notions or Clotilde. most places carry them now. they stick onto the machine. my eyes weren't good but not bad enough for bifocals then and i needed something.

Does the vibration from the sewing machine loosen the clamps on this? For those who wear bifocals, is this a help with your glasses?

The one that sticks onto the machine was the one that would not fit properly on any of my machines! Maybe it was a different kind. Will look at Nancy's.

If you have a Bernina, they make a set that attaches to the machine. It has 3 different glasses at 3 different strength and I love mine! They are fairly expensive here about $60 but well worth it to me.

I bought one at Wal Mart, also. Had to return it; didn't fit on my Bernina 1630. Bernina makes one but it's very pricey.

If you wear glasses, you might consider clip-on spectacle magnifiers. I use them for my cross stitch but they also work when I'm sewing.

sometimes quilt shops have them i think mine was called magna-stitch and it had a sticky thing that made it stick in place on my machine and then it tilted where i wanted it. not sure on the name though its been a long time i need one for my new machine im getting really blind.
