I made a soccer blanket and put very thin plastic on the back of it., I didn't quilt it but it lasted for years...I got the plastic from wal mart where they sell the oil cloths. I also made a little rain cape and scarf for my DD when she was a year old out of the same type of plastic over fabric..

Are you able to wash these products? I make aprons and like to make them waterproof ---- I use a spray on product that is used for tents. I buy it in the camping section at Wal-Mart. It isn't stiff and does wash out.

I made one and just used a flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth. It was pretty easy to stitch. Like with all plastics, you cannot tear out your stitches because it will leave holes. So, make no mistakes! lol

It has held up quite well and it was very cheap. I just toss it in the washer for a regular cycle then in the dryer for about 5 minutes to loosen it up then I air dry it.

What a great thread. This is something I never thought of making and now you have me planning a new project.
