Quilters Day Out
Quilters Day Out (QDO) has become a traditional quilting event for many years now. The state is divided into districts and the following areas have announced their plans for 2011.
Most all of them hold their event on Mar.19, except for Louisville which is held on March 12. Most have a modest admission fee and some collect food or other items for local charities. Most all have great door prizes. At present, these are the ones I know about.
Dist.15A Bluegrass Mar.19
9AM-3PM A big change this year since the location has moved from Frankfort to Lexington at the Fayette Co. Extension office. 1140 Red Mile Pl. Speaker, trunk show, demos, show and tell, and view KHQS Challenge quilts.
Please note a big change as this event will be in Lexington this year rather than Frankfort. Quilters' Guild of the Bluegrass in Fayette County will host our district Quilters' Day Out this year.
Date: Saturday, March 19, 2011
Time: Registration and shopping will begin at 9am, with the program from 10am-3pm.
Place: Fayette County Extension Office, 1140 Red Mile Place, Lexington 40504
Karen Witt will give a lecture and trunk show featuring her just-published book, and Rita Hardman will give a presentation on Square-in-a- Square. There will also be vendors, door prizes, the opportunity to view the KHQS Challenge Quilts and lots of Show and Tell. Everyone is invited to bring up to 3 quilts to share. Lunch will be a Bring-Your-Own- Brown-Bag affair, though there are restaurants nearby for those who want to go out for lunch. We will also be collecting non-perishable items for God's Pantry. Anyone donating 3 or more items will receive an extra door prize ticket.

My Guild is having a Stashbusters Day. from 9am to 9pm we are having a sewing day for everyone, playing some games just having a good time but we can work on a project that is provided or work on our own project. The local sewing machine shop even donated a new machine as a prize for the day! It should be a lot of fun.

Well I did plan to spend the day in my sewing room. Still working on turning it from a mere room into a studio. Plus have a couple of doll quilts to bind. Unfortunately(?) my husband announced he is off work tomorrow & how nice it will be to spend the whole day with me. Well, yes :), but no:(. You can bet I will be watching for him to get lost on the computer or in the garage

I am going to spend the entire day just playing with my fabric. I want to plan my next few projects and pick and choose what farics I'm going to use for each project. I've been looking at a lot of patterns online lately and I have lots of ideas, just need more time, always more time!!

Going to LQS for a "road show" to get more inspired and then home to sew. Working on a wedding present that needs to be finished by July. All cut out and ready to go. Oh but forgot I'm in the middle of a quilted jacket using an old sweat shirt.....quess I'll get that finished first. Need it on this cool spring mornings.
