I don't know if this is any use to you but I use a regular HB pencil for marking appliqué outlines and to mark through stencils for hand quilting. It stays on forever - but it washes out (in the machine).

Only works on lightish fabrics though, on darker ones I use the silver pencil. :D

BTW - I LIKE your squinty lines! :mrgreen:

do you find you have to press very hard with the pencils? i have no solid surface behind the quilt to press against .

Could you use the pounce all around the edge of the plastic template? This would give you sort of a reverse outline to follow.

Of course you're doing it in your frame, I lay mine on the table. I guess you could get someone to hold something flat underneath it. Sorry, hadn't thought it through. :oops:

I was at Walgreens one day last week and they had a small "travel" iron, marked down to $5.00 so I bought it. You can use water in it or not but I figured it would be good for those small things I want to press and my regular iron is too big sometimes. Check around flea markets, yard sales, dollar store, goodwill, etc. for just a small cheapie iron. Those Clover mini irons are just so darn expensive for the size they are. lol
Nothing cheap about me, huh?

I'm at work not home where my markers are but I have a fine point blue wash out pen, it marks a good fine line but the very tip seems like they cut it off wrong or something, it's a bit jagged but I can turn it around to the smoother side.
