I have written several short stories about the consequences of not reading the directions. Then there is not reading all the directions and on and on.

Right now I'm cutting out a Not So Giant Dahlia with some lovely templates from Marti someone, can you tell I don't even have my glasses on? I got so excited that the templates had come that I only read the directions for the first two templates. I sewed all that together and it was just lovely. Then I began cutting out some of the larger pieces, (on this one you start in the very middle and work your way out.) But I failed to read that the outer pieces are 16 and not 8. So I cut 8 from the very center of the fabric that I had selected. Now there is not enough.

Yes, I am being a very good old lady and adhering to the moratorium on fabric purchases....oh my, I did just get a nice package from MSQC and a new company I learned about on this forum, a place in KY that starts with a W.

So now what are my options, l. choose another fabric, 2. piece what's left over back together and then make a piece out of two pieces. I think I'll try for # 2. I'll let you know.

I think that is a great motto to go by. So sorry if you didn't cut something right. I just made a mistake as I was working on 2 different quilts and really cut my background fabric wrong. Very frustrating. Hope things work out for you.

Reminds me of a corollary from carpentry: "Cut that d__n board 3x and it's still too short!" ;-/

We have that sign posted in the garage/shop. My dad always used to say..."cut it a little longer...then trim just to be safe"!
