Glad to have you on the board. It is always nice to get a guys opinion who actually understands quilting.

My husband asked me once.."Why do you buy big pieces of fabric only to cut it into little pieces of fabric just to sew it back into big pieces of fabric again? I tried to explain to him about the beauty of designs but he just says "It' s warm either way!"

I have the same problem. He thinks I am here to do for him only. Ha!!! I don't but he thinks I should. He has no hobbies and doesn't like to watch sports. There just isn't enough John Wayne movies (or any westerns) anymore. That's about all he likes to watch on TV. He doesn't understand quilting at all (why cut up fabric into tiny pieces and sew them back together) most have probably heard that one.

WOW I know you really appreciate that. I know I would. Mine says- Do you have to go out again. That's all you ever do. I try to go to town Tuesday or Thursday's to meet the swim ladies for coffee. Rarely do I make it both days. and lots of times I don't go at all. My DH goes to town to Tim Horten's every morning (unless we are snowed in) but calls that their "Saftey Meetings". Good thing he has other good qualities eh!!!

Oh please don't think I do not appreciate having DH with me - we had a heart scare just a few months after he retired. And I probably do get on his nerves sometimes. :wink:

As a side note: Dish Network's free trials this month are the Encore channels which means Encore westerns - so with the winter, snow and westerns, the TV is really getting a workout! :roll:

True Story:

I once had a customer who wanted a new machine. She got up, went around the table, and looked at it from behind. She said, "Well, it's not quite the same color as my old machine but he'll never notice the difference." She bought a $4,000 machine and I met them on the sidewalk at a shopping center one day. He said, "Boy, my wife sure has been using her machine a lot more since you started teaching her how to quilt!"

She thanked me next time she was in the shop that I had not revealed her 'secret'!

Men can be so funny when they don't understand our obsession with quilting. But what about the men that collect tools that never get used or fishing gear or hunting gear or what ever hobby they have.

Or men who buy tools, use them, misplace them and buy the same tool again!!! UGH!!! I know where my fabric is, I know where my rotary cutter is, I know where all my tools are...now they may be in another drawer beside another machine but I have it! Hmmm.....maybe I should go and buy a few more of the SAME tool so I can have one beside EVERY machine! Uhhh, guess I do have some of the same habits, huh??? :lol: :oops: :lol:

I like your thoughts. My husband also has many duplicates and triples, because he is not organized. Or leaves a tool at one of the kids houses. Can't find it -buy a new one. I noticed he now has at least 5 cordless drills. They seem to find their way home. --- Yes, next time I see tools I have I will remember the other machines they can be sitting with.

my dh ha s 19 drills.. some cordless, some not, this one has a more powerful motor, this one has longer battery time, this one is a hammer drill (what ever that means) and this one etc etc.... but can i get him to put up a quilt hanger noooooo.. i have to wait til he goes out of town for work & get myself a couple of his drills (one with a screwdriver bit, cause why change bits when you can change drills) and do it myself... he's always surprised when he comes home from a week out of town.. must be why he tries to keep it to one nite at a time...lol

Forgive me if this has been mentioned but I just had to laugh at this thread.
I ask myself everytime I walk out into our garage "How many screw drivers of the same size do you need?",or "How many drill bits of the same size to you need?" I don't even want to get into how many tape measures he has, but he doesn't have one that I can have to make snap bags!!
