in the middle of the night

You did that in ONE NIGHT? Gorgeous! I like the idea of transitioning from the small hexes to the large circles as your progress across the quilt, or the large circles as a center medallion, frame that, then the hexes around that.

Your idea is beautiful. Look at Colours of Australia for an idea of how to finish. She raw edge zigzaged it to a background, put a sashing and then a bias piano key border type around the edge with a binding. If you use clear filament thread the stittching will hardly show. Artists usually come up with their inspiration in the middle of the night!

Interesting....I see an amazing quilt top with a very pale blue or deep jet black background the large circles on each end diagonal from each other (to represent the moon and sun) with the smaller circles in a sort of orbit around with the "mini" fans in an outside border in the yellowish/gold color. That's just my idea. I can't wait to see what you create. I love the material. Now instead of tossing and turning I need to just get up and start cutting. Thanks for the inspiration.

Well, we all should be so creative in the middle of the night. I am humming a song "In the middle of the night" by Billy Joel just for you.

I love those middle of the night creativity bouts. I know I come up with my best ideas then. Maybe it is because our brains are so relaxed and willing to be free. This is gorgeous. Maybe tonight in the middle you will come up with another idea on how to put it all together.
