No, it would not look strange! No more than any combination of prints and solids looks strange! I personally find all batiks to be slightly dizzying, and prefer them balanced with plains!

I've done it and was happy with how it turned out.

it's okay to mix ALL fabrics....your choice! And odd? Nope...don't think so at all. The best piece of advice I ever got on choosing fabrics is not use all the same hues.....need a good mix - otherwise, your pattern will get lost. Didn't quite know what that meant until I started to look at kits sold online - and finally got it.

Love the batiks - and to throw in more traditional fabric - hey, go for it!!!!

Yup, the more, the merrier! I do it all the time and have no problems with it (although, I'm a pre-washer type)

I do that all the time. It's all fabric and if I lilke how it looks together, I don't hesitate to use them in the same quilt.

I mixed batiks with traditional fabric in my Labyrinth Quilt (posted on 4/26/11) and was very pleased with the outcome. The outer border and opposing points on the star in the middle is the traditional fabric. I think what worked were the colors being very close and the traditional fabric almost reading as a batik when looking thru a reducing glass.

    This.
I wash everything as it comes into the house so I never have to worry about it or stop to wash if I am mixing things..

Just started doing it also. Had reservations but it was for my nephew and when it was done, it was by far the nicest quilt I've ever made.
