I love the mixed shades of light. It truly is a scrappy then. The border can provide a place for the eye to rest. or a sashing, or ??

I mix them all the time!!! I guess you're getting mixed reviews on this, but it's your quilt. Play with it and see what you thing.

Hinterland your quilt is Striking!!! Love the colors and quilting!

I think it depends on the pattern as to whether they work together....I like off white better than white white so off white and creams can really work great....est if the cream has white in some of them...the tones will dictate if they work...just try them and see how they look in the new pattern...

HInterland, you proved what I meant to say when I saw this topic. Just be sure to intermingle everything and it will be amazing. Though, being scientist-trained, I've learned that Random does not mean that two of the same will never touch. and even that does work beautifully!

I have mixed creams and white tonals together in one quilt. I'm quite pleased with it. But like others have said, just do what your heart is telling you after you play around and put fabrics next to each other on a design wall or cutting table - or on the floor and stand back. Depends on the pattern and size of the piece, right?

And Hinterland, I think your quilt is stunning!!!

I've seen some beautiful scrap quilts that mix everything. Just stick to value, If its light and contrasts well with whatever dark you use, it should work out fine. Don't let the quilt police into your head when your doing something out of the box.
