Mobius Bargello quilt
#1

Has anyone one made the Mobius quilt from Eileen Wright's second book, More Twist and Turn Bargello Quilts?

I think that will be my next one, only in purple.
My question is about the construction. This quilt has no seam intersections, instead 'The seam line of a subsequence row falls at the midpoint of each strip in the previous row." I understand this, but is this hard to do? I am used to matching the seams. Will I have trouble not matching the seams.
Of course, you couldn't possibly know if I will have trouble
....but if you have done this, did you have trouble doing it?
Thanks for any info.

Hi dina,
I made a quilt from this book. It was not the mobius one, but the setting of the blocks was the same, mid-point. If you pin at those points before sewing the seams you should not have any trouble. I have seen you work and you are experienced enough to do it, I am sure. Mine was the brown and bright orange one that I fell in love with when I bought the book. The setting strips are the black with yellow cornerstones. But on the blocks turned opposite ways the setting was half point. I found a design wall really helpful.

Your quilt is beautiful!!! Double wow!! Thanks for letting me know this is do-able. I have a design wall, so I am all good to go with that. Right now I am gathering the 20 shades of purple I want. That's not too hard, most of my stash is purple.
Just want to get the right shades. I just got back from buying the background fabric. I didn't have 3 yards of a deep purple fabric...
I figure I need to read the instructions a few more times too. And I will check out other quilts that sew at the mid point. I think there is one in her first book that does that also.
Thanks for your encouragement!

this quilt is done that way, except it wasn't mid point, but 2/5. The pieces were 5" long so I had to mark 2" down to line up the next. - I put marks in several places and pinned to keep each row to keep it correct. otherwise the design would be messed up.

Gorgeous quilts! Can't offer much help on the seam line up. I'm making this for my son and after nine months of finding the right fabric - we're one away and should be able to start soon. Little leary of that step down too though she offers suggestions how to do it in the book. Good luck on yours.
