Default I use a sidewinder to wind the bobbins for my Viking.

Well my Viking Mega quilter will wind bobbins while I sew so I don't worry about that and soon I'll get my Viking #1 out of the shop and I'll try w/just one partcial spool to see how it goes. I also will wind old metal bobbins that I don't use any more w/thread for hand appliqueing; they are smaller and easier to take along with you.
My Sidewinder works just fine for my Viking machine. Just turn the bobbin over.

I use my sidewinder for my Brother machine (I don't like the one on the machine). My HQ came with a big winder for the M bobbins and my Bernina will do bobbins while sewing so no big deal there. My sidewinder only works with batteries now but is still going strong.

Yes, I have a sidewinder and it works great. It's faster than my machine and keeps me from having to rethread all the time. Also for some reason the sidewinder puts more thread on the bobbin than my machine does. I have a Janome 9700.

I love my sidewinder too but all I have are vintage Singer bobbins that I wind, it works great for me instead of using the machine winders (which I just can't quite get the skill to do).. Don't all the modern machines wind their own bobbins?

I'm considering buying one of the K-Kraft bobbin winders but was wondering if they work for the type bobbin used in the vintage machines (Singer and Japanese clones)....not the shuttle type but the regular round ones? I have several vintage machines and sometimes the bobbin winder on the machine doesn't work as well as I would like it to and it's becoming a PITA even though I LOVE my vintage machines.

I LOVE my K-Kraft winder. I use it to wind bobbins for my long arm. When you order the machine, they will set it up for the type of bobbin you want. They are very responsive to emails, as I had a lot of questions before I ordered. I also was concerned with the price, but believe it or not, this is on the low end for a 'professional' winder.

My Pfaff has a seperate motor and spool for winding bobbins so there is not a problem for me.
