I love your red Smith Mountain Morning and don't see any mis-turned blocks. It is stunning. I am making one now but with the brown and blue . I love the gold stars and think you must see this quilt in your dreams after a third one.

I use the same method, but I use the little colored dots that folks use at garage sales. I list mine as R1Blk 1 etc. and pin them on, have never had a problem with residue. This works for me, I also take picture so I can see it later if things get shifted.

I do not see anything that is out of place. It is going to be one very beautiful quilt. I will often pin a tag on quilt pieces so I can keep the placement in order when I start to sew them together.

I had to look this pattern up (Smith Mountain Morning) by Bonnie Hunter...and yours almost has a lace effect to it while Bonnie's doesn't. Maybe because the blocks aren't sewn together yet on yours. I'll give this one a hand and see what I come up with as I already have all the templates required. Hope mine turns out as beautiful as yours!

I don't know the pattern, but I see some of the blocks not lining up the way I "think" they would be … top row first three blocks looks fine, but then the fourth block has red on red … I would turn the fourth block so that it has the white border touching the red border of the third block.
Same thing with fourth row down - the last block - I would turn it so that the red border is touching the white of the adjoining block.
Otherwise, it is a stunning quilt!
