I have a cordless Maytag Iron and it takes tap water only. I don't have any problems. I would let the water out and use it dry. I have seen Alex Anderson say she only uses a dry iron, and you don't burn your fingers as much. I thought that was interesting and tried it. It seems to work just as well.
