For those with XP....follow this tute....use the numbers keypad to the right of your keypad and use the numbers lock and then so on and so forth for the symbols.

If you open a document on XP, Vista, or any other older program, open the "Insert" window, open "Symbol", you will have a chart with all different kinds of symbols. Then highlight any symbol and in the lower portion of the chart you should see the "shortcut key(s)". ALL kinds of neat symbols that can be used. You don't have to have a keypad, and can use the numbers at the top of the keyboard.

For those of you still not able to get the ALT characters - try the Function key first and then the ALT key - and then your numbers.

When I went there, after I pushed the cent sign, the numbers to enter were down in the right hand corner and they were different; so check your right hand, lower corner. That might help
