another nice way to make a music themed quilt without being too cutesy is to make a watercolor quilt...I made one that had a cello and a trumpet on it. You cut up fabric into squares and sort by colors and shades...then put it together like a puzzle to make the design you want...it is easy, fun and it came out gorgeous - wish I had kept it but it was a gift for a retirement....

This one was made with music note fabric. The pattern is from the book "Bodacious Quilts" - Real easy!

I too have been desperately searching for music themed pattern that would not detract from the wonderful music fabric I have. Something simple, elegant, yet still have a "wow" factor. The music fabric is busy enough so to much in the way a lot of quilting wont work. Keep us all informed if you find something.
