Do any of you use it for backing? I would like a lower cost alternative for my backing but wondered about the quality of muslin. Obviously, I know it wouldn't be as good quality as "regular" quilting fabric. Just wondering if it "will do".

I only use muslin for backing. I use a 100% permanent press cotton 108" wide from ...........get ready..........Walmart. It never shrinks and washes beautifully each time. If it can survive my grandchildren......it's good stuff........LOL

I simply use the basic sheets from Walmart so far no balling they are permenent press and I had no trouble hand quilting them. They are one piece , cheap and the fabric is 200 count.
