I can't think what it is call but what about one of those borders where you have rectangles side by side on the long side in a long strip like piano keys without the dark keys though, only I would put rectangle of the dark color every now and then too. It would still have a scrapy look but be simple to piece together and if the rect.s have to be toooo long add another strip of just the black so the key section doesn't have to be so wide. Wish it were possible to draw here so I could make myself better understood.

    I don't think it's ugly at all...very unique...definitely one of a kind!

Worked on cutting out the wheel a bit last night. Used 2doods' pm info for skunk relief for Crouton. She loves to be bathed and cuddled, so she didn't complain. House smelled like wet pug last night and just slightly this morning so it should be gone by tonight.

Hoping to have the carpenter's wheel square done tonight and then see how the colors are coming together. Still don't have a final decision on the border. Want to try the braids but I get tired of the quilt by the time you get to the border. Maybe it will "speak" to me after the rows are together.

I don't see a bit of ugliness in that quilt! I've never made a crazy quilt before, but I've spent time looking at them and that is so pretty!

I wonder if for borders you could use long strips and make two borders. The first red all the way around and the second one black. It might "frame in" the quilt. I really like it.

I'm not sure I know what a carpenter's wheel is, is it like a big Dresdon Plate? I can't wait for more pics.

it's a series of squares and triangles. about my 3rd attempt at triangles. I found it on quilters cache, the 24" one.

Like that idea of 2 borders, and to finish it off with black, since that would draw the sashing together. Thinking of taking some of the little sashing scraps and doing a braid and cobblestone runner to match it for her dresser.

I always have too many ideas and work keeps getting in the way. :)

That's a great idea about a runner to match. I would love it if my runners for my bedroom furniture matched the quilts on my bed. I never thought about that idea before!! GREAT!

It's finished! Here are the pics. I used this as my UFO challenge quilt so I made one more goal come true.

I AM SO GLAD THIS ONE IS DONE!!! And it's not so ugly anymore, but it still needs to eave my house- I still don't care for it. I'm sure future DIL will like it on her bed.

Only 2 more UFOs to go (baby quilt and double size). I'm energized now, let's see if I can get them one!
