Congrats., I have 2 and love them. If you look in some of the quilting catalogs, you can buy books by Nancy Johnson-Sabaro giving you the history of the Featherweights. I have all 3 of her books and find them very interesting to read. It makes you want more of those cute, workable machines. Enjoy yours. :D

Thanks for giving me that site. Looks like mine was made in Dec. 1952. It is in such good condition. Hardly any wear. My pictures do not do it justice.

Congrats on the FW. Looks like you got a beauty. They are so fun. Right after I got mine I cut up a bunch of scraps for leaders and enders and stacked them next to the FW. Then I decided to sew "just a few." Before I knew it I'd done them all! Enjoy working with your new girl. Did you give her a name? Never thought I would name a machine but I call mine Ray after her original owner.

Be sure and let us know when you give your beauty a name.
Mine are the Queen Mother, Blueberry, Jasmine and Celery!!
They are pictured on Vintage Sewing and it is listed under My Singer Sewing Machine Collection.

I have a 1941 Featherweight that I found when I cleaned out my in-laws home a couple of years ago - you will love using yours for quilt tops. I found the best book for learning all about your Featherweight and how to maintain it - it's called The Featherweight 221 and I by David McCallum. You can email him at :
[email protected] He also has a website at:
    www.featherweight221.com.

Your FW is fantastic. I hope you enjoy sewing on it as much as I do mine. They are a great little machine for piecing.
