Default my finished quilt is alive!

I recently finished a quilt for me....all the others have been gifts. After washing and drying, it looks great on my bed. But every morning when I get up, the silly thing is on the floor! I swear I didn't quilt any feet into it, but I am baffled. Why does the quilt travel at night and what can I do to keep it in place?

a couple of thoughts... did you use 100% cotton? cotton would 'cling' more to the layer beneath.
did you make it with enough hanging over? did you use a cotton or wool batting... a batting that it would be heavy enough to stay put? i'm sure it's disappointing to find it on the floor.

Just maybe.....someone is kicking the cover off at night??? Seriously, my husband gets hot and cold every night. No matter what I put on the bed, his side is always almost totally on the floor at the foot of the bed. The funny thing is, he wakes up and swears I steal his cover. Well, picture me with the cover going across the bed, similar to an HST as he pulls mine over to his side. I end up with almost none! I have to get up in the middle of the night to straighten the covers so he will give me some. I'm not complaining too loud, after all, he is a keeper. I've had him for 48 1/2 years and he's still a good guy.

I have found that using flannel on the back of a quilt really keeps it in place on the bed. Even he can't get it kicked off to the point where we both are cold. Cotton Sateen sheets, my favorite, and quilts with cotton backings seem to just slide around on each other too much for his active nights.

It might not be the quilt but what it is on top of. Lay it on top of another flannel or cotton blanket.

The quilt top and backing are 100% cotton...the batting is an 80/20 blend....it is on top of another quilt with about 12 inches of overhang....and I am the only one in the bed!

Maybe you have a bit of restless legs syndrome. My DH used to be so active at night with his, it seemed he was running a race and he never knew he was doing it. Thankfully, after his transplant, all that stopped. Go figure.
