There's a time for everything, and this is the time for you to use the scraps for you and yours.

I think your Grandmother would be thrilled that you are using her scraps to make yourself a lap quilt and gifts for the other grandchildren. I know you will feel her love every time you wrap up in your quilt. Enjoy it.

I would definitely use the scraps for yourself and other family members a memory quilt! Your grandmother obviously was putting others first when she designated the scraps for charity, but now is the time to put her first!....jmho

No, it is not selfish. The grandchildren will love it! If a grandchild says they don't want a quilt, hold onto it until they are older or more settled. If they still don't want a quilt, then donate it.

Remember the old saying, Charity begins at home, well if these are charity scraps where better to use them than at home for family members to share a part of this grand lady's love for quilting than by having another quilt lover make them a quilt. I say go for it, and immediately get over any thoughts of being selfish!! So sorry for you and your great loss, but now there won't be other scarps coming and you are going to keep a part of your grandmother's memory alive in the family.

Charity begins at home. Make the memories for family members and yourself. You first!

Don't ever feel greedy on something like that I think she would feel honored to have you to make a quilt in her memory for your self. That is a special bond that you two had together. I hope this helps you make your decision.

Absolutely not wrong. It's not as if you will never make another charity quilt, and I suspect you've made too many to count already. Making quilts out of squares she saved and cut will be a wonderful remembrance of your beloved grandmother which you will share with other family members. It's just a different kind of "charity", one that begins at home. Do it. You'll always be glad you did.

If you're really feeling guilty about having fewer charity quilts to give then use some of your fabric to make some charity quilts but I don't think that's really necessary.
I completely agree with Citrus County!
