Charity isnt defined as *people you dont know*... it also includes *kindnesses for people you DO know... which would include people your grandmother knew and loved... which includes you... LOL

No, it is not selfish. It is a memory of her and her generosity. Make yourself a grandma scrappy and snuggle in it whenever you miss her, think of her and see her skills in your own work.

I haven't read all the posts but I would never give away scraps from my grandmother to anyone outside the family. Maybe not to anyone but me. I have some blocks my mother made and I'm in the process of putting them together with some of mine. I will for sure keep that quilt. My family can have them after I die.

I think your grandmother would just love the idea, so quilt away and let us all see what you make. Hugs and so sorry for your loss.

I do not see this a selfish at all. These will be the last scraps you will ever receive from her and making yourself a quilt, as well as others in the family, is a special way of remembering her.

I think there is nothing wrong with keeping this last box and making something for yourself. You and your grandmother have given enough to the community and are definitely allowed to keep something just for you. Take care.

No, I don't think you are wrong to want to use them for a quilt for you and her grandchildren. I think it would be a nice way to honor her, to keep the fabric/quilt in the family. Maybe you can use some other fabrics to make charity quilts and donate them in her name.

Why don't you run the suggestion by your Aunt - she what she says. I'm sure she would be happy to have those items given to the grandchildren - especially if a couple of those grandchildren are hers.

Absolutely not. She obviously wanted you to have them and by making them into a special quilt for you and/or your kids, grand kids, etc. I think it's a great idea. I think you will regret it if you don't keep them and make yourself something special. My condolences on your loss. I never knew my grandmother, so I think it's so special that you had her in your life, and that you shared your love of quilting.

I think you should keep it and every time you wrap up in it, will be like a hug from your GM!!!
