You are correct, it sits at 36 inches high.

I don't have one in there, but that a great idea. I just order a pine ruler holder from someone who offered them for $5 through our Guild. The plate rack would be great to help keep my patterns organized.

Wow, it looks super handy! I'm thinking a draining board plate rack might be nice in the sink for your rulers, if you don't already have one in there. I can't quite see inside from the picture.

That's fabulous!! and if your DH is handy, he can replace the electrical outlet that was in that rectangular hole in the front. What a great find.

The "well" portion would make a great light box. I have an old sewing machine table that will sit flat but you can draw up the one side (originally used to make an extension table for the sewing machine) and place a light on the lower level and a piece of acrylic over the "well" and viola! a light box, no storage and just the right size. Okay, so it's small, but I can move the template.
    Your find is wonderful.

He's an electrician in the Coast Guard so yes he can fix it. For now I had him take it out but I am thinking I may have him put it back in.

I can't believe the price you got for your new cutting table. It's really neat, so glad for you.
