The violets are lovely - they remind me of my grandmother as she too raised them - Next to pansies they are my favorite flower and if they like where they are, they will thrive. I have used baskets of violets as centerpieces for a dinner - I also share my sewing space with my bedroom.

Love your violets. I, too, have African violets in my sewing room. They like the bright light also, just like I do.

Your flowers are lovely. It is nice to have that much light both for sewing and your flowers. I have at least 8 violets that I have kept alive in selfwatering pots for at least 20 years. They reside in a drysink in my kitchen. My Dad was a florist and told me the secret to having violets bloom and thrive is to keep them pot bound. My husband likes to tease me by threatening to repot them for me. When they look straggly I just pull them out of their dirt chop off the longest roots and replace them in their pots. They bloom like crazy.

Thanks for sharing....nice to know others do not have what looks like a quilt shop for a stash. I share my sewing room with my cat Bailey...........spare bedroom that Bailey thinks belongs to him. Love your violets.

I have three violets but they are in my kitchen window. They are the only flower I can raise as long as I water them once a week and don't move them. My kitchen window faces the east and they love it there. Violets are my favorite and I collect violet things. Love them!!!!

they like to be repotted every 6 months to a year, mine usually get it done once a year. I give them fertilizer 1/4 tsp to a gallon of water use this every time they are watered.
