I love them both but like the 2nd a little better. My first thought was also compass points, then the way crystals form.
For a name I like Crystalline.
I do like 1000scraps idea of Baroque Garden, also.

I like the 1st one, doesn't look as busy and the pattern more defined. I like the name Hidden Pathway, reason being, the outside points look as if they can be folded towards the center of the block hiding the center path. Just my opinion.
