Your colors are great. No need for a rust color!

Oh thank you for posting this. I've been shopping on and off all week trying to get 12 fabrics. Just posted a new picture of my fabrics today. The title of the post is "Surf Song or Misty Morning bargello ..." (I not know how to or if I can link it to this post.) I love your idea!

After my first bargello (when I would have changed two of the color placements now) I have put the fabric in order I'm thinking with about an inch spacing to see all the fabrics then I let it sit and will look at to ponder for a time. I will find at least something to change since doing this.

That is really a clever idea -- lets you see if the fabrics play well together!

Selecting the colors is why I have not attempted a Bargello. This is a great tip and I will try it. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for this great tip! I am going to attempt a bargello for the first time and fabric selection is my biggest stumbling block. This will help a lot.

I usually cut a small piece of each fabric and tape them down on a piece of paper in the order I want to sew them. I also chart our the first hump or two on graph paper and color it in with crayons.

Thanks to all for the tips. I retire in 8 days. Maybe I can get one started. Marcia
