You've got to search on pinterest for ideas before you commit. The site is filled with ideas. Have to admit, I'd love to have sus z q 's wallhanging pattern.......

Made that several years ago; still enjoy it. Seems like the pattern has "Arabian" in the title.

2011 to do list? You mean there's someone else out there who's also six years behind??!

these ties were given to me by my barber customers.

40X27 inches, and I chose to frame the top.
My salute to watercolors when they were all the rage.
It can be hung from any side so it fits where i want to put it

Puff quilts are popular again, we called them biscuit quilts back then
I stitched the ties with that technique, then ironed them flat rather than stuffing.

My daughter has made several dresden plate quilts using ties. She washes the ties first and dries them. Next take each tie apart, you get more fabric than you would think. She backed them with a light iron on interfacing, then cut them out. I think the middle one was 20" and each corner had a quarter plate. turned out quite nicely. I just saw a tutorial on Missouri Star Quilt Co making grandmother's fan which looked fairly easy--preparing the tie fabric is time consuming--and you might be inspired by that.
