Default Finally, more time for quilting

Today is the first day of more quilting time for me! I retired today after 45 years of working. I am so looking forward to spending more time in the studio. I have been stocking up on fabric and kits, so I am ready to go! As a retirement gift, I got a couple of gift certificates to local quilt shops, so when I have the need or desire to get fabric it will be "free". We will be on a short vacation next week (EAA - Oshkosh) and then my time will be mine. I'm sure I will be spending more time on this great site. Love the support everyone gives everybody.

congrats! I am a bit jealous - I have 6 more years before I can retire. Have a great time on vacation and enjoy all that time sewing and quilting!

Congratulations! I'm SO happy for you! I've got probably 9 years before I retire. Love my job, but when I retire, I'm sure I'll enjoy retirement, too!

Congratulations on your retirement and welcome to the world of all the time you want to sew! Like you I spent years buying whatever I would need for when I retired and it's so wonderful now to have so much free time to just go through the shelves and pick something to work on. Looking forward to seeing some of your finished projects on this board. Good luck and have a great time...you've earned it.

We're going to EAA too. We'll go on July 31st & fly home Aug. 1st. Last year was my first time going, and it was a fun time. Did you know they had a quilt block contest last year (they are not holding it this yr.) I have not had my block returned yet, so they might still have last yr.'s blocks on display. They are in the lower level of the Museum. I didn't place, but it was an honor to have it displayed. I was thrilled.
