Question Need to find source for wide flannel @ church.

Our supply of wide flannel at church is running low and we need a new source to buy it. In the past, a local machine quilting business (also member) ordered it for us at her cost. She says her supplier isn't handling it any longer. Right now we buy 44" flannel and sew it together. All fabric shops in this area sell wide cotton but not flannel. Suggestions please?

Can your member ask her supplier if anyone else carries it?

What width are you looking for?

What do you use it for?

Thousands of bolts carries wide back flannel at $13.95 per yard. But the selection changes constantly. I don't know if this is competitive with what you have been paying.

fabric.com advertises it. I haven't used it, can't attest to the quality.

We make about 60-70 Mission Quilts every year and use flannel for backing.

I have bought wide flannel from Fabric.com and it was "decent". Not fantastic, but not super cheap either. I'd call it "medium" quality.

I'm using it as my design wall, though, not in a quilt, so I can't tell you how well it holds up to being washed. So far it's held up to being tacked to a wall for over a year very well though!

My church makes charity quilts and most of the quilts are backed with a good grade of muslin. Flannel you should always wash before due to more shrinkage than cotton.
