 I certainly don't view myself that way, but thank you. I tend to have more time then most to quilt. My health problems make it hard for me to leave the house & poor DH has to do all the shopping and stuff like that. I find I get a lot of quilting done while watching (listening really) to tv or to music. Of course, I'm spending more and more time in here, which cuts down on my actual quilting but renews my soul. Plus, when my fibro or CFS is acting up it helps to just sit here and be able to talk quilting when I can't actually do it. Originally Posted by judithb

My sister has waited 40 years to find the right guy and get married. Well, less than 40 since that is her age. I know, naughty me for telling!) In today's age when so many people live together, she has actually waited, which is amazing. I figure the least I can do is help out as much as possible & give her all the support I can.

Tiffany, what a lovely note. Thank you. I retired a bit early so I could spend more time with my husband of 40 years, and quilt. Now I am showing sighs of Arthritis in my hands so I quilt as much as I can now. Can't color (on quilts) or embroidery any more. I love quilting and plan to do a lot for quilts for kids in 2010. (Downy.com) Sorta like making lemonade out of the lemons we sometime receive. I too spend a lot of time on the quilting forums. they are such fun and educational!
Hope you and DH have a happy and healthy new year.

It sounds like we are in the same row boat together. I know I don't have too many years left to hand applique or hand quilt with my arthritis and fibro settling into my hands. I am trying to do as much now as possible before my hands give up on me and refuse to work anymore. I don't do any embroidery anymore. Someday I'd like to pick up an embroidery machine but that's a long ways off. I've other things, like a longarm machine, that I would much rather have first. Originally Posted by judithb

Tiffiny and Judithb, reading your postings (and taking into consideration my health problems), I am reminded of the wise advice given by movie star Katherine Hepburn...."Old age is not for cowards." I totally agree. Belles

Hi I have an idea....I like to make a baby quilt from a solid piece of material for the very reason that I'm afraid my seams won't hold thru the many washings it will receive. I hope I can send a picture...hugs SgOriginally Posted by Dell
I made a really nice quilt for a boy. I did it with paper piecing. It had trucks, cars, airplanes and a train. It was a lot of work but it came out very nice. My niece said that after a few washing the seams all opened up. So don't do one with paper piecing. I guess they are only for wall hangings.

Actually this is a panel from Wal Mart....I can't find the one I started from scratch. Either way ....I feel the quilt is more durable.Originally Posted by swimer girl
