My kids(twins) dad was a county deputy and he was killed in the line of duty answering a burglery call, this was on the eve before their 7th birthday, 16 years ago. I personnaly think the quilt with the fabric will be very nice, its hard to explain my feelings on this because of what I personnally went thru but I know he would love it. :-)

not sure if you have made this yet, but what about using a small section of the police fabric for a label of some sort.. that wouldnt be the main focal point, yet it would be there as a reminder of what a special girlfriend she was.. OR, how about making pockets using that fabric, and tucking encouraging notes, or thoughts , or quotes of other people who have lost loved ones in the line of duty? if you know of any, I mean? just thinking here for ya, friend..
