When I was in a similar circumstance I made my friend a quilted tote bag to carry her esential items to chemo with her. I did use a variety of pink and white fabrics mixed with pink ribbon awareness fabric. She loved it and now that she's in remission proudly carries it as a survior. Tote would be something to consider if time and budget are short or could make matching tote for quilt.

I'm actually not sure yet if she will have to do chemotherapy. She hasn't yet seen the oncologist. I guess I should wait to find that out because you're right, it would totally change the material I would choose.

And thanks for the suggestion to make it extra long!!

Just a personal preference, but if she has to have chemo I would put minkee/minky on the back. It is so soft and so warm.
