Hi!

I've been commissioned to make a small quilt. Here is the description. I need help quickly with this. Thank you.

The little quilt is to add an artistic spot of color to an old short church pew that's been painted white. I would like it be mainly blues--royal, navy, light blue mix--whatever--and white. I like the look of black mixed with blue & white, but I'm not demanding on the colors. She likes the old-fashioned look, as you can imagine.

This is not for the seat of the pew, but where your back is when you're seated. If it has some sort of pattern that you don't want cut off, it would be good to know that about 20" will be showing in the front and the rest will be hanging over and down the back. It should be 37" wide and to make it easy, 37" long, so just a square.

For my mother, stars would work if secondary to a design that could be Victorian or otherwise old-fashioned/fussy

Ohio Star with the center a blue rose fabric is an old pattern that would work. I saw a Victorian Rose that was a lot like that with some extra blocks in the corners. The Ohio Star is easy to find. quilterscache has one, but 12" is too big.

I love Victorian and shabby chic as long as it's not too "shabby". I think since the theme is Victorian, the fabric is critical. You might like this one. I found this on Ebay tonight. It's $5.99 a yard at this auction - I also saw it for $9.95 a yard at another auction on Ebay as well. You could pair it with a stripe for a classic Victorian look. Also, since the point was to "Add an artistic spot" they had some really neat Victorian house panels that were gorgeous if you're looking for something more like that. I would check out Ebay for some ideas. Just search "Victorian fabric". I will post in a link to the floral and the houses. Good luck with this project.

Exactly what I was thinking. Nothing is more Victorian to me than a nice crazy.
