I made this little tissue holder for my dil and gave her some cute little Snifs tissues to put in it. It took me all of ten minutes to make it. There are plenty of free tutorials/patterns on the internet.

What about a purse. I've made some from double sided quilted fabric. I gave several as gifts and they were big hits. Lot of patterns are available. I usually wait until patterns go on sale for $1.00.

I would make her an embrodery kit - one that has a place for supplies/hoops/needles/scissors/magnifying glass/thread/etc.
Maybe enclose a date for a lunchen.

Several years ago, my sister asked me for a quilt that she could show off her embroidery with. At the time, she was into Hungarian embroidery, so I got some coloring book designs of Hungarian flowers and scanned them into the computer. I ironed cotton fabric onto freezer paper and put it through my bubble jet printer.

I like the mug rug idea and give her a matching mug with some chocolate or other goodies inside the mug. I would swoon over a b'day gift like that from a friend.
