There is a line of fabrics called "Happy".

The second picture was made with the "Happy" fabric. It was a very cheerful quilt.

I'd try my best to find out what their happy colors are. I love blue/green/purple but some don't.

It's such a personal thing, I'd find out her favorite color and use the clear brights available. I'm the rare person who doesn't like blue, but someone else wouldn't like my coral.

I take my cue from the person I'll be gifting the quilt to -- find out what colors their living room/bedroom is, be observant as to the colors they wear, and comments they've made in the past about things. It will be different for men and women. But I'd include more springtime colors - yellows, greens, & blues and add pinks/peaches for women (generally) and probably stick with those basic colors for men....if I didn't have any information to help me!

I would go with pastels in summery colors along with a few brights in the same color scheme.

I cannot find out what the person likes because I am making quilts and quilted prayer shawls for my local hospital for the Behavioral Health Unit.

    Elise1,

Your second quilt is really cheerful to me. I like the colors that you choose. Your other quilts and wall hanging are nice also.

Do you know if it's a he or she? OTOH, if you're donating to a cause, the person in charge could send it the right direction.

    Yellow/orange/red is cheerful, too.
