That was my thought also. I like curves when there are a lot of straight lines.

Here's the thread painting I tried to post last night. My description on page 1 describes where everything goes. Since I didn't have a copyright-free image to work from, I tried my best to recreate everything & the giraffe is off-center. I'd have the sun rays run into & under the giraffe & there would be more room for the clouds & wind on the actual quilt.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone, for the ideas. Bree, I love your drawing, especially the giraffe spots. I think those will definitely be part of the quilt.

Looks like I can finally post pictures again. Here is my quilt top. I'll post another photo when it's quilted. Maybe that one will end up right-side up

Oh wow I love this. Great idea for quilting Bree. I will have to see if there are other animals by this designer.

I would outline quilt the giraffe and then quilt the seams internally following the seam lines so he will look taller and thinner. Almost all the lines are vertical so it would seem easy to quilt it like that. Cute design. Let us see what you decide on.

I would SID the giraffe's "spots", then echo quilt just inside each.
For the background I would ignore the pattern and quilt a "savanna" landscape.

Default quilting giraffe design

on the background i would do a meandering that is trianglular, i did this recently and it came out great. you can cross lines, you do not have to follow the seams but can cross them, you can make the quilt design med to large so that it reflects the size of the background triangles. for the giraffe i like the suggestion of circles.

LOVE your Giraffe. My grand daughter is totally obsessed with them right now. That ends up a decent size quilt for a smaller child or twin bed maybe, with a couple of borders. I love your work.
