Need quilting ideas - Giraffe
I just finished this paper pieced pattern (Giraffe Abstractions from Violet Craft). Now I need to quilt it, and I'm stumped. Normally I look online for ideas, but every version of this quilt I find online has simply done straight horizontal quilting, and I'd like to do something a bit more interesting. Any suggestions? I need to finish it this weekend, so if I don't get some inspiration in the next day or two I'm going to have to fall back on the straight lines.
I'm having trouble attaching pictures today If my attachment doesn't show, you can see the quilt design here http://www.fatquartershop.com/jungle...-quilt-pattern

I was intrigued with this pattern when I saw it, so .....
please show us your interpretation of this pattern!!
Your fabric choices and colours used, may inspire us with suggestions
for your specific interpretation, different than those we may have in
looking at the pattern photo.

Rules won't let me point you to my photo (on my blog), and there appear to be widespread image problems today (many people, me included, are having trouble posting & opening images). However, my colours are exactly the ones shown in the pattern. Also, the quilt is larger than it looks - 60 x 44" which probably makes a difference for quilting it.

Wow! I can't post anything either. Nothing to do with rules in my case. Anyways, I'll post it later if I can. I was thinking of maybe doing some thread painting with different colors:
1) tan colored concentric circles for the spots on the giraffe, outline its body, face, eyes, nose & mouth in dark brown
2) follow a couple lines of the piecing to make hills & then add some tall savanna grass on them in a darker shade
3) draw a sun on the right using a bunch of half circles followed by concentric triangles radiating out from it in yellow, and then wavy concentric triangles radiating out beyond that.
4) clouds made out of a wavy inward swirl
5) wind made out of wavy, loopy lines and double swirls going every which way
Really wish I could post my sketch. It's not fantastic or anything & I made sure not to include the FQS art, but it definitely makes things clearer than what I wrote. Hope you can make some sense out of what I've posted & that it inspires you to come up with a fun design for your adorable quilt!

I actually like the horizontal lines. With the geometric shapes, I think it makes the horizontal lines look much more interesting than they would normally be. Hope you can post when you are done. Great quilt!

I would consider quilting trees and bushes and maybe another giraffe or other animal(s) in the background. However, as stated above, straight lines do look nice also. It is a beautiful pattern-I did go to the link.
