Default Need some ideas

I have a trundle bed and a bunk bed with single & double size matress's all in the same room. This is in a beach house in Mexico. I would like to make something with simple piecing for all the beds. I want them to coordinate but be different. I don't know if the material should be the same with different patterns or if the pattern should be the same with different materials. It is for adults as well as a boy teenager. I really need some ideas on this. Thanks for any help you can give me...............

You could do something with both the same fabrics and the same pattern but change the placement of the fabrics in the pattern for each quilt. That way they will have some variety but still coordinate.
Or do the same pattern in different colors, especially if it is a simple pattern.

Do you want a formal design or informal (such as scrappy)? If you are looking for a traditional look, you could use the same fabrics in different patterns. If you want to go with a more casual look, the scrappy-type quilts using some of the same fabrics along with a variety of other fabrics would be fun. You could use different binding fabrics to add more interest.

Are these to be used as a throw or bedspread? With a beach house I would think quilts would not be needed often.

If your house is Mexican design and you are using the bright colors typical of Mexican art and decoration one possibility would be to use the same design with a multicolored batik as the focus fabric and use a different color from the focus fabric as your main secondary fabric for each bed cover. Looking forward to seeing pics when you finish!

These would be used like bedspreads. Maybe a two or three colored easy patterned quilt. I don't have any ideas for a quilt pattern either.

I would select bright Mexican colors (I live in So Cal) and I might do different pattern such as a D9P and a Strip Tube quilt. They are both simple patterns and would work great with bright fabrics. Use black as your background,

I would use the same fabric (a tleast the focus fabric) and make them different, or the same and change the placement of the fabrics. I do that for my daughter's kids. They have two sets of bunk beds, one the in girls room and one in the boys room. Once I made them both I Spy quilts but used different border/backing fabric. They came out adorable. The reason I suggest using the same fabrics is that they will look coordinated in your room. Have fun making them.

Two for 1 quilt, gotta love that. I'd use bright fabrics.

Easy D4P or D9P , you can use an array of colors or maybe just a few colors. http://sewwonderful.blogspot.com/201...o-9-patch.html http://freequiltpatterns.blogspot.co...patch-and.html, Do a google search for their images and you'll see the possibilities are endless.
