IMHO, if you cut it, it will loose it's flow. I like EasyPeezy's suggestion of a bed runner. All you would have to do is quilt, bind and drape over the foot of a bed.

I would cut it in half lengthwise and join the 2 pieces vertically so you will get one piece about 42 x 60, then add a border and you will have a great size quilt...the pattern may look interesting...the blues may actually connect??? hard to tell...
Actually depending how you turn the pieces, the colours may match up...

It would make a lovely wall hanging for a tall long wall such as in a double story open stair case or lobby entrance, etc.

Cutting it up will lose the beauty of the design. You could fold it in half and see if you think it looks OK, though at 30x42, you need a lot of bordering and again, would detract from the beauty of the work.

It looks heavenly to me, like it should not be cut. If you have an open staircase, or cathedral windows (2 stories tall), then it could be a wall hanging, as is, uniting your upstairs and your downstairs living areas. If not in your home, maybe in a church or school?

If it were mine, it would become a lap quilt, possibly with Tellabella's suggestion, maybe with an appliqued band in the join, reversing direction..

Members of my guild (except me) did bargello work a year ago. Some became jackets, others lap quilts, othersplace mats as gifts. If you have a cathedral ceiling, the single wall hanging sounds good. Whatever you decide will surely be right for you. I do hope you share it with us.

I don't think you will lose the pattern if you cut it in half. It is very pretty- what a find...

That's beautiful, and a lucky find for you... Think I'd use it for a bedrunner..
