Batting

Batting
I ordered 10 packages of Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 cotton/poly batting but received their Poly Down 100% polyester batting instead. Now I need to decide if I should keep it or send it back. I am curious how others like100% poly batting. I have never used it before. How do you like it compared to 80/20 and why? Pros/cons? Very curious.

contact them right away. they probably will just send the correct batting and tell you to keep what they sent in error.
I used to use poly batting but only if it was very thin. i don't like puffy quilts. other than that, it's fine.

I like both battings ... but if you like the crinkled look .. the Poly Down will not shrink. On the plus side for poly down... it dries much faster. The poly down will be a bit warmer , but lighter weight . I found I like the weight of cotton to sleep under, but like the warmth of poly.

I would call the company even if you like the batting because they do need to be made aware of the error on their part. And then try one of the battings to see if you like it. if you don't then pass it on or send it back depending on what the company has you do.

I've used the poly down and it worked up great! It's very soft, but warmer than cotton and won't shrink. You will get a smoother look after washing, so if you want the crinkled look, poly down isn't for you.

It depends on what you want to make with it and how you are going to quilt it. I find 80/20 easier to FMQ with. Polyester if it's low loft, will be fine to hand quilt with and even good for FMQ projects. It really is a personal preference with batting.I would contact the company and tell them of the mix up. If they will allow you to keep the poly and send you the ones you really wanted with no extra charge, then I'd be happy. If they want you to send it back, make sure they will pay for shipping it back because it wasn't your fault.
