I am so glad you got good news. Of course we all think the worst when we are waiting for news from tests like that. Thank God, your news was good. All the ideas above sound like good ones to me. What ever you decide, I am sure he will be grateful...

Doing the happy dance for your DH. And you're lucky to have such a caring doctor.
As a 28 year plus hospital volunteer, I'd suggest you go ask one of his office helpers. They will know more about his home life and likes than anyone bar his wife.
Cherish this doctor, they all aren't like this.

Sounds like a darn good idea to me. A lap robe AND an alarm clock.

What a nice man! You should definitely make him something. Our doc has a framed crocheted rectangular doily that says his name on his office wall - maybe you could do something similar that is quilted.

I like the idea of a quilt. I think a mug rug is not a big enough thank you. I know how important his compassion was to you and your DH and he is much more special to ease your worries than something small. A very personal wall hanging for his office that "says" how special he is or a quilt he can nap under is my recommendation.
