Need your ideas on how to quilt this one

Pagzz, I think you have a lovely idea. I too was trying to figure out what to suggest that didn't involve rulers ( straight line quilting ) or fancy treatment. I was going to suggest a gentle curve along each edge of the star, but I like yours better. And then she could continue the loops along the diagonals of the blocks in the outer border - maybe every second row, to keep the density similar.
[QUOTE=Pagzz;6839830]It's a beautiful quilt. Based on what you indicate is your experience level, this is what I drew. In the star maybe softly outline and at every place you pause or change direction make a loop. This is easier than straight outline since it doesn't need perfect spacing. Loopy lines through the strong diagonals once again don't try for perfectly centered and straight. In the border echo your lines and make them ribbons floating around the stars. Practice on paper and then go for it.

Ditto what she said. Practice on a couple samples until you feel comfortable.
It's very pretty!! If I were you, I would practice your skills on some scrap and try to put feathers in the teal border. The stars .. if the batting you chose would be OK I would just outline 1/4" inside the stars to make them pop. The background patches you can do any kind of filler - meandering.

Your quilt is lovely!! Would you mind sharing what the pattern and fabric line is? No help here for the quilting as I'm still a straight line quilter myself. But you can certainly be very proud of this wonderful quilt!!

I was thinking a celtic knot might look nice in the center, but I really like the flower that pagzz drew. So pretty. If you do go with the flower (that's my vote!), maybe a nice loopy, leafy vine would look nice in the teal border, and then repeat the star shape in the patched border. I found a nice clip-art leaf online & just printed it out & cut it out on template plastic for this little doll dresses quilt that I'm just sewing the flower yo-yo's onto now. I did them in 3 different colors like thread painting. Honestly, I couldn't be happier with it. They were super easy to FMQ once I drew it all out with Ultra Clean markers on my quilt.
No matter what, I'm sure the quilting will be every bit as beautiful as your quilt top. Nice work!!!

I like the idea of feathers in the border, as others have suggested. You could do two or three lines of straight stitching within each star to echo that shape and draw attention to it. Meandering or loops and stars on the squares patches.
Your quilt is beautiful! I see why you want your quilting to be special - and I'm sure it will be! What thread are you thinking of using?
